Description
The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of dividing a large grid system into two smaller grid systems. The existing system was apparently designed for high pile storage with in rack sprinklers. The in-rack sprinklers are removed and the existing valve is being utilized for the new grid system. The systems have been redesigned for Ordinary Hazard Group II. A new one-hour wall is being constructed to separate the two tenants. A new egress corridor is being added for the SE tenant. Therefore, the sprinklers for the new egress corridor are supplied from the SE tenant not the W tenant. The smaller system in the SE will have a new 2” main added. The large system is being reconnected with a new 3” main. The majority of the branch lines are 1½”. The remainder of the branch lines are 3” and 4”.

This permit is for vanilla shell space ONLY. No tenant occupancy is permitted under this review. A signed and dated owner’s certificate and verification of storage heights and commodity versus sprinklers system density is required before an occupancy permit may be issued.

NOTE: The western tenant space has been calculated as Light Hazard, which is adequate. It is an unoccupied space at this time. When a new tenant occupies this space, new hydraulic calculations will be required. There is a current problem in the space. Some of the sprinklers in the space are ½” quick response and the other sprinklers are ¾” standard response. These conflicts must be addressed before a new tenant can occupy the space. The response type cannot be mixed within the same space. In addition, it is very doubtful that the hydraulic calculation can be proven with a mixture of sprinkler orifices for Ordinary Hazard Group II. Even with the current problems within the space, the plan reviewer feels the existing protection is adequate for an empty unoccupied space.

Building Department Scope:

(BOISE TOWN PLAZA) Remodel to subdivide an existing 39,979 sq. ft. retail space into two separate "vanilla finish" spaces (vacant) for future tenants per approved plans. The new West tenant space will include 24,597 square feet. The new East tenant space will include 12,354 square feet. The new common receiving corridor will include 2,028 square feet. Interior demolition work permit under BLD12-00106. Work to include: Demolition work per plans; Install new storefront glazing and entrance on the West tenant space side; cut new openings in the existing roof for three new RTU's; New one-hour rated tenant demising wall; new one-hour common exit corridor walls; new interior walls and doors; new suspended ceiling on one area; new plumbing work, new mechanical work, and new electrical work; new exterior concrete sidewalk and curb per plans; trench existing floor slab for new utilities; infill existing CMU exterior wall openings per plans; relocate existing fire protection/alarm panel to fire sprinkler room per plans; and all other work per the approved plans, engineering, attached plan review report, and all applicable adopted codes. "This building is fully Fire Sprinklered with an approved Fire Alarm system. Todays inspection was for the ULTA BEAUTY space. Everything appears ok except that the 3" and single 4" branchlines have 1 1/2" pieces in them located at the far main. I requested that TVFP get with plan review to verify that the hydraulic calculations are not adversely effected by this pipe size reduction. Also non-functional rack piping and sprinklers are still hanging from the structure.
