responded to an email from the applicant regarding temporal code issues. In the email, I let him know that temporal code has been required since at least 1994 (per the 1994 UFC, 1007.3.3.3.2). It would appear that temporal code was required when the system was installed. I included the fire marshal in on the email and explained that he would need to address this with him as far as how to proceed. I re-stated that if you can’t hear the non-temporal code on top of the temporal coded devices, then it might be ok for this permit. I suggested calling the permit in for a conference with the inspector. If it will cause confusion (i.e. the signals can be heard on top of one another) a solution will need to be made to avoid causing chaos in the event of a fire.

Called Jordan and spoke to him about the note I placed on the project stating that there is an issued fire alarm permit (FIR12-00090) that needs to be finaled before calling for a final inspection. I let him know that as long as they were able to test the new devices under his permit scope of work and as long as the signals go through to the central station and can be verified, we could still do his inspection. He said he would call me and let me know if they are able to get the signals through to the monitoring station.
