Spoke with Tammy Morris this morning and updated her on what the City needs from the permit applicant. I Let her know that once we get the updated plans showing the additional detection devices within the closets and other items mentioned in the plan reviewer correspondence, we’ll can issue the permit and get the ball rolling.

Can't complete review of re-submittals. I sent an email to the applicant stating that he indicated in the scope of work that the intent is non-required complete smoke detector coverage instead of the single/multi station smoke alarms. This is definitely acceptable, however complete smoke detector coverage includes all closets, etc... so there is a need to provide additional detectors. I provided the NFPA code sections regarding this issue. In addition, in my previous reviews and in conversations since, I explained that I would not approve the DMP XR100N internet communications method for use in the City of Boise. I have also discussed this with our fire marshal and he agrees that the internet communications method provided by the DMP is not an acceptable choice for many reasons including because the owner can change the internet provider at will. I provided a list of approved communications technologies with my previous review comments, however the one-line diagram and submittal packet have not been changed to reflect which approved method hase been chosen. I let him know that rather than reject the submittals a third time and incur additional review fees, I am willing to wait to reject the plans if he can have replacement submittal packets to me by Tuesday, 4/23/13. I asked him to please provide smoke detectors in all areas required for complete coverage and indicate which approved method of communication is to be used. I attached another copy of the approved communications methods in the email. All other redlines seem to have been implemented and/or clarified satisfactorily.

Emailed Jack with Alarm Systems Integration to get clarification on the network communications.
Miscellaneous action  3/12/2013 DONE
Received an email from Jack with answers to my questions. One of the answers was that the user/owner would have freedom of selection of internet providers. I emailed Jack letting him know the internet communications submitted would not be permitted and that the plans would be denied due to this and other factors.

Plans denied due to incomplete application - no building permit has been indicated. Per PRE12-00120, there is a permit pending. Plans must be resubmitted after a building permit has been issued. No written review comments. No review done at this time.
Telephone call  5/31/2012 DONE
Spoke with Alarm Systems Integration to let them know the plans are being denied and that no review has been done since there is no building permit yet. He asked if he could leave the plans at the city and just wait for the building permit to be issued. I said that I would put them in the drawer up at the permit desk and that he doesn't technically have to pick them up but it is recommended because there may be changes to the layout during the planning and building review stages. He stated that he understands.
Miscellaneous action  5/31/2012 DONE
Denied plans taken to the front counter.
