Description
12/18/12 Plan Modification (no initiating devices affected): This plan modification is to replace the DACT with an IGSMCF digital cellular communicator. New notes regarding this modification are at the end of the review comments starting on page 7.
This fire alarm permit is to replace the existing ADT fire alarm panel and system with new. This permit scope of work includes sprinkler system monitoring, duct detector monitoring for HVAC shutdown, a remote annunciator panel at the main entrance, a smoke detector above the FACP, a manual pull station in the riser room, and two voluntary heat detectors in the oven room. There is no associated building permit. The DACT is being replaced with an IPGSM-DP fire alarm communicator with cellular backup.
12/5/12: The contractor resubmitted with using the onboard DACT rather than a different communications technology.

Spoke to Alarmco regarding discrepencies in the information provided. This is a new communications technology not previously submitted to the City of Boise. I asked for an installation manual and clarification on items shown on the plans. The plans indicate internet communications with a land-line phone backup, however Alarmco stated during the phone conversation that it is wireless (similar to the AES radio) with a cell phone backup. I let them know that normally the process is to provide all information for a new communications method prior to using them in a fire alarm submital. I explained that I want time to go through the information thoroughly to determine if it is going to be allowed in our jurisdiction, to prepare adequate instruction for the inspectors, and to be able to review the plans accordingly. They said they would work on getting me the information I need.
