Spoke to Brian regarding the DSC 3G3070CF communicator he submitted. I explained that I have never seen this partcular communicator before and that typically I do not allow new communications methods to be part of a fire alarm submittal. He explained that it is the same as the 3055 (previously approved for use) only it uses 3G instead of 2G. I let him know that if he could get something from the company in writing that states that, as well as an installation manual, that I would go ahead and review it in this case. He said he would get the information to me today.

Brian with Local Fire & Security called. He said that the ceilings may be too low to mount the horn/strobes and strobe only devices at the minimum height of 80 inches. I let him know that NFPA 72 has allowances for lower ceiling heights, but he may have to increase candela ratings. I refered him to NFPA 72 18.5.4.2 and explained there would be some calculations involved in determining what the new candela rating would need to be if he can't mount them at the 80 inch minimum.
