Jason Minnick called to say that the wonew has agreed to replace the existing fire alarm panel and bring the entire fire alarm system up to current code. He will resubmit under the same permit number with a full permit to replace the original quick permit.

Jason Minnick called to discuss what would be required to complete the project. At the time of construction (1996) The UFC did not require notification so Jason asked if the notification could be removed. After research with Scott Arellano, it was determined that the reason the building had notification is due to the Americans with Disibilities Act (ADA). I informed Jason of this and that full compliance with 1996 NFPA 72 installation requirements and ADA guidelines will be required but I recommended meeting current code due to the age of the existing fire alarm panel. I followed the phone conversation with a recap of our discussion via email.

NFPA "Testing and Inspeciton" form and "signal test reports not provided. Heights of notification devices have been modified. NAC/Power Supplies have been provided for each of the two notification circuits. Neither one of these items is shown on the plans. Per conversation with plan review notification shall be provided through-out as per NFPA 72. I noted that the north side of the building strobes flash about once every second. The south side strobes flash once every six seconds and the horn tone is "solid tone". It appears that none of the NAC or IDC curcuits are supervised. We tested the smoke detector at the FACP and a manual pull station which registered correctly at the remote annunciator. Plans need to be submitted showing all devices utilized, correct scope of work and actual field conditions/function of the fire alarm system. See NFPA 72; (18.4.2 temporal), (18.5.3.1 strobe flash rate), (10.8.2.3 supervision/trouble signals)
