I received a phone call from the property manager - Linda Cockerham. She was upset with the installing contractor submitting a change order for elevator recall. She indicated that although there were smoke detectors at each elevator lobby, the elevator is not capable of recall. She indicated that the owner does not feel that he should have to provide this at this time. I informed her that I don't have the authority to dismiss the issue and that she will need to contact the state elevator inspectors office to determine what needs to be done. She indicated that the elevator 5 year inspection will be conducted later this month. I told her that the outcome of that test may provide her the answers to her questions.

I received a call from Brett anderson of Mountain alarm indicating that the existing elevators do not have recall and are not capable of it. I informed him that this is a matter for the elevator inspector. He said that he was concerned that if there were detectors in the lobbies that it would imply the recall function exists (even though that's the way it is now). I informed him that in the past, where the elevator needed an upgrade to allow recall, that the contractors have installed the required equipment in anticipation of future upgrades. Either way, I informed him that he will need to involve the elevator inspectors office to determine current requirements.

I received an email from the property manager (Linda Cockerham of Select Commercial Property Services) requesting the the process for persuing an upgrade agreement. I responded via email indicating that she would need to compose a letter of request to Romeo Gervais & Jason Blais that lays out her situation and her plans with timeline for completion.
Meeting  5/5/2014 DONE
Landlord / property manager stopped by City Hall to discuss the possibility of phasing the upgrade requirements noted in the review comments over time to prevent an instant increase in cost of $10,000 to the initially proposed project. I informed her that it may be possible to have a phased upgrade agreement, if approved by the fire marshal. She will email me her contact info so I can send her the requirements of the request process.
