Jason of Peak Alarm called to confirm that duct detectors were not required. I told him that they are not. He said that a new sprinkler riser was being added that is to be monitored. I told him to resubmit this under the same permit number as a plan modification.

I emailed Mary Froemke to let her know the the duct detectors shown on the drawing are not required and can be removed. This is based on IMC section 606.2 exception. I also informed her that if the mechanical engineer insists on having duct detection, the sensors will need to be installed on the return ducts instead of the supply ducts based on IMC section 606 . Mary responded to state that the detectors would still be installed on the supply side. She asked if they needed to be monitored. I responded stating that if the detectors were installed, it was to be on the retun side Per IMC or not at all and that if installed, they were required to be monitored Per NFPA 72..
