Lighting versus sprinkler head locations.
Hi Tim,
I've attached the best information we have at this time, the approved lighting plans. They show the design locations. I'm also attaching the light fixture schedule. Most of the ceiling fixtures are either a recessed can, or mount to a standard back box, I believe.
I'm not sure we can provide the precision you're looking for. Most of the time, the reason a light fixture (or mechanical device) is relocated in the field is due to framing conflicts. We cannot know the final location of the framing, since the structural engineer only specifies a minimum spacing for the joists that make up the bulk of the floor framing. The contractor can start the layout wherever they want as long as they meet the minimum spacing.
Nathan already has the lighting layouts and I believe has included them on his drawings.
Thanks

Doug,
I do the fire sprinkler plan review for the City of Boise. I am working on your project named “Harris Ranch Mixed Use”. Treasure Valley Fire Protection is performing the fire protection work. I have asked them in a review comment to coordinate the sprinkler locations with the lighting fixtures. I asked them to stay 3’ away from the light fixtures to prevent obstruction issues.
During the final inspection on some projects the field inspectors have found the light fixtures are too close to the sprinklers. The City has then been forced to delay occupancy until the problem items are resolved. I am attempting to avoid this situation on this project and all future projects.
When I asked Treasure Valley Fire Protection to coordinate their sprinkler locations, they said the exact locations of the light fixtures were unknown at this time. Would you be able to supply Treasure Valley Fire Protection with exact locations and sizes of the light fixtures? I believe this would be beneficial to all involved parties. The person at Treasure Valley Fire Protection to contact is Nathan Stenquist (nathans@tvfp.us). As always, if you should have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Cordially,
