Description	Replace existing fire panel with a non-proprietary Silent Knight panel. Replace all existing addressable devices, the existing NAC devices and NAC booster are to be removed. Karrie Donato of Syringa called to say that the fire alarm contractor removed horns & strobes. Syringa had been installing horns and strobes over the past 3 years (with permits) in an effort to provide full notification, although it was not required. During review of this project, it was noted that existing notification did not meet current code so I informed the contractor to provide full coverage or remove non required devices. The contractor elected to remove instead of add. Karrie indicated that their plan was to add full notification through planned tenant improvements. I informed her that this would require an upgrade agreement with fire and building officials.

This site was acquired by Syringa Networks in 2013. During seperate tenant improvements of individual / non contigsous spaces between then and 2016, non require audible and visible notification was permitted and installed with the owners intent of having full notification throughout. Through this project (full system replacement) it was noted in review comments that some areas did not have adequate visible coverage. Option was given to provide full coverage or remove non require devices. Contractor removed non required devices. This was not the owners intent, as noted above. Owner plans to add full notification back in and was informed that an upgrade agreement would be required if this is to be done over a period of time. Otherwise, full notification could be added under 1 permit or it could be left as is.

See the city approved plans for corridor detectors tested today. The fire doors did not release upon alarm of the corridor detectors, water flow switch did not function, elevator hat did not function. We tried to test some duct smoke detectors but the units would not turn on.

As-builts are needed showing deleted devices, added devices and address changes. Verified battery size in panel and panel model. Verifed a/v's have been removed per the approved plans. I noted that the smoke detectors for door release will need to be centered on doors. The access controled egress doors will need to be connected to the fire alarm system per the IFC. Interior doors on hold opens need to release on alarm and when the panel becomes inactive as discussed.
