Miscellaneous action  7/8/2016 DONE
Emailed Ken to let him know that Shilo installed sprinkler heads in all elevator pits and that he is to install required smoke detection. I suggested he contact the state elevator inspector's office to see if having a motor located in a sprinlered pit would require shunt trip functions.
Meeting  7/7/2016 DONE
Met with Ken and Rita regarding elevator machine room-less controlers and associated detection. I informed Ken that smoke detection will be required within the shaft if any motors or controls are located there as well. If the controller is wall mounted outside of the shaft, detection will be required within the enclosure. If space is not available, detector is to be mounted outside of the enclosure within the allowed spacing of the detector just like elevator lobby detectors. Subsequent to the meeting, I called Gary Barnes - state elevator supervisor. He confirmed that when controls or motors are located within the shaft, the shaft becomes the control space and requires detection mounted at the top.
Telephone call  7/6/2016 DONE
Ken called to say there were some changes that the mechanical engineer of record was making that would affect smoke damper coverage and he wanted clarification of detection requirements. I emailed him the details of IMC 607.3.3.2 - 607.4 requirements.
Miscellaneous action  7/1/2016 DONE
Emailed Ken to let him know that during a walk through, we noticed fire alarm plenum wire tied directly to all thread at the transition area of 4th floor from city center to the district. Told him that he needs to have the electricians correct this, as it is not allowed as proper installation by NFPA 70 (NEC). Also informed him that the Clearwater basketball backboards are blocking the strobes when in the up position. These need to be relocated clear of the backboards and maintain approved spacing for the selected candela.
Telephone call  6/15/2016 DONE
Ken called to say that he has found that return air systems do not exist in the mechanical system and is requesting that duct smoke detector be eliminated. I informed him that if they are not required, they do not have to be put in.
Telephone call  2/24/2016 DONE
Ken called to discuss seperating the project into 2 permits. 1 for VRT and 1 for the shell & Core. I told him I agreed. He will submit seperated drawings for VRT in the near future.
