Relocate and Add Sprinklers to accommodate new wall and ceiling layout

[BLD16-04254] - The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and for high-rise. To remodel a 2,179 square foot area (i.e. a new care suite) located in the West wing (one story tall and about 38,524 square feet in area) of an existing high-rise hospital to be used as a Perioperative (or Post) Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, a smoke partition wall required to comply as both an I-2 rated corridor wall and as a care suite separation, smoke partition walls to comply as a care suite separation, a 1-hr smoke barrier wall to maintain smoke compartments, incidental use separation walls, a single-user restroom accessible to the disabled, interior doors, curtain tracks, curtains, suspended acoustical ceilings, gypsum board soffits, millwork, and finishes. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. Existing smoke barrier walls creating smoke compartments are required to be maintained. Existing 1991 UBC fire-rated corridors are required to be maintained except at the remodel area where the common wall between the corridor and the care suite is allowed to comply with the 2012 IBC. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. Quick-response fire sprinkler heads are required to be installed throughout the remodel area (i.e. the new care suite). **CJW**
