Alarmtech to provide and install new manual fire alarm system with automatic detection for 108 room, 4 story wood framed newly constructed Comfort Suites & Inn Hotel per Boise City Building permit number BLD17-00022. Occupancy groups R1,A2,A3,S1, apply. The manual fire alarm system is required per 2013 IFC 907.2.3. with Note to exceptions 907.2.3 for Group R-1 facility's equipped with automatic Sprinkler Systems, Sprinkler Permit under FIR17-00522. The R-1 sleeping units will utilize addressable smoke detection with 520 Hz Frequency Sounder Bases in all sleeping areas. Handicap or Hearing Impaired rooms will utilize 177 cd ceiling mount strobes mounted 15 ft. from pillow head and 15 cd ceiling mount strobes in bathrooms. All unit sounder bases will activate both general fire alarm along with local supervisory. All areas or rooms with gas appliances will be equipped with combination Fire Smoke with Carbon Monoxide Detection. HVAC units over 2000 cfm will be supervised by duct detectors. The building Smoke Detection System will be considered full area coverage for Releasing Services and Fire Smoke Dampers, Electronic Door Locks, Elevator Supervision and all Fire Control Panels. All Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler, Elevator Supervision and Premise Fire Alarms will be monitored by our 24 Hr.UL Listed Central Station. This work is associated with building permit BLD17-00022.

Today we finished up the marked corrections on the 4th floor including dampers but no elevator control. But programming has been changed so that the room detectors/sounder bases activate upon another rooms supervisory alarm. This needs to be corrected and devices retested. We went to the 3rd and 2nd floors and found that the room detector/sounder bases are also incorrect. So I inspected the fire dampers on the 3rd and 2nd floors. The detectors will need to be spot check for functionality on the 4th floor and 100% checks on the remaining floors. No elevator has been tested. The strobes in the Handicap rooms still do not have the weather proof boxes installed. The dampers at the top of the elevator shafts functioned.

Todays inspection was for the 4th floor. See the city approved plans for all devices tested and the corrections needed such as Room Number/device address corrections. The general alarm silence feature does not function yet. The fire smoke dampers are not accessible for inspection.

Plan mods are needed showing the changes which include addresses and fire sprinkler device layout. I tried testing today but when we started there were 79 troubles on the panel. When test for sprinkler alarms the panel started functioning incorrectly. I ended the inspection. Project is not ready for inspection.

Tested smokes, heats, fire smoke dampers, pull, remote annunciator, horns, strobes, sounder bases and elevator recall. All functioned properly. Kitchen and food service detectors need to be changed from smokes to heats, Suite 117 has changed from suite to airline employee lounge. Contractor to change smoke to alarm and add a strobe. Bathroom weatherproof back boxes still missing. 7 of 12 found locally and to be replaced by tuesday 6/26/18. As built drawings are to be provided prior to final acceptance.
