Rose emailed to see if there was any way that strobes could be eliminated from the theater exits. I have looked into this a bit further and found 907.5.2.3 (2) indicates “Visible alarm notification appliances shall not be required in exits as defined in Chapter 2”. According to the definition in Chapter 2, the exit includes the exit passageway. I informed her that the strobes will not be required in these specific theater exits, based on this code, exception and definition. All other previously noted deficiencies and requirements still apply.
