1. There is an embedded bike counter in the existing bike lane pavement north of Grove Street. The bike counter is broken but it would be great if CCDC could work with COMPASS (Contact: Marcus Amman) to fix or implement a new counter.
2. Is the existing Ped Ramp on the north side of Grove compliant? Appears to not be replaced with this project.
3. Please include pavement marking obliteration and re-application for bike lane markings within the intersections of Main/Capitol and within Idaho/Capitol. Current markings don’t align with proposed parking protected bike lane. Includes an existing green bike box near the NE corner of Idaho/Capitol.
4. What is the horizontal clear space on the proposed sidewalk around the existing overhead canopy and stairwell on the north side of Idaho (Adelmann Building)? Should tree wells be shifted to better accommodate the overhead canopy?
5. Since there is no on-street parking adjacent to the sidewalk (and therefore no need for a door swing zone), should we discuss alternative installation angle/spacing/frequency/location for proposed bike racks? Perhaps we can squeeze a few more racks in the sidewalk.
6. L11 plan sheet currently shows a curvi-linear curb line at the alley approach between Idaho and Bannock. Contractor will probably want to straight-line this so may want to just show straight lines with angle points on the plans.
7. Any green bike lane paint (solid) planned for any of the bike lane (aside from the ladders at intersections)? See NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide (One-Way Cycle Track) image attached for one treatment at each entry point to the protected bike lane.
8. How about flower pots/planters and bike rest bars on the median island at the south side of Idaho and Bannock? (See Zach Piepmeyer email to Doug Woodruff on 3/27/18)
9. On leading edge of bike lane median, place 18” white tubular markers. Will help keep snow plows and cars from hitting the leading edge of the islands during low visibility/snowy conditions.
10. Typical Section: Do not use reverse flow curb on the right-hand side of the raised bike lane median. Revise to “vertical curb (no gutter).” Even if the gutter pan slope matches that of the bike lane, it is not desirable to have any longitudinal concrete joints within the 5.0’ minimum width bike lane. Contractor will likely want to construct all concrete curb + bike lane + raised median with a single concrete pour anyway rather than form up and pour each of the individual typical section elements independently.
11. ADA stall relocation work not shown in plans. Stall to be relocated from Capitol to Idaho per previous discussions.
12. Please work with Jason Taylor and Tom Marshall in PW on potential new light fixtures specs for historic lights (3000K light temperature).
