Miscellaneous action  5/1/2008 DONE
PDS received racking application on 4/14/08, BLD08-00735. Plan failed fire 4/29/08, due to lack of storage commodity classification and fire sprinkler analysis information.
Meeting  3/26/2008 DONE
Onsite meeting held today with Darrin Fitch, Mark Senteno, Asst. Fire Marshal, and Troy Cobbley to discuss their progress on obtaining a High piled, rack storage permit. No progress has been made since last site visit. Mr. Fitch indicated the seismic calculations and the sprinkler evaluation are not completed. According to Mr. Fitch, the product stored is non-combustible filters. Mr. Fitch agreed to remove all storage above the top rack rail, limiting storage to approx. 14' high, and to submit the seismic calculations and sprinkler evaluation, along with the rack storage permit application by no later than April 16th. Mark informed Mr. Fitch that failure to comply with this new agreement can result in fines and/or loss of the TCO. Mark plans to return next week to verify storage heights have been reduced as agreed to and to verify all storage is non-combustible, as reported.

As requested I stopped at this project to verify the the warehouse area and the storage racks were being utilized. I identified myself to the receptionist and requested access to the warehouse to verify if the racks were being used. I was granted access so I went to the warehouse and found that the racks were indeed being used. One of three gentleman in the warehouse asked if I needed help with anything. I stated to him that I didn't need any help and I identified myself to him and told him that I was a fire inspector and that I was there to verify if the racks were being used. I also told him that they were not supposed to be used. I also took three photos with my personal cell phone. I then met with sam rogers and went over the pictures and what I witnessed.

Telephone call  10/31/2007 DONE
Documentation of phone calls and emails regarding the TOC for the office portion of tis facility.
10/31/07 - to jgilliland from srogers: Jenifer, see email string below.
The Activity notes for the fire inspection states: "The owner is still working on getting the racking permit and the sprinkler work has been scheduled."
I don't understand how could he have had sprinkler work scheduled if he is now saying he is having difficulty finding a racking permit company to do the work that needs to be done.
The TOC was only for the office area. Do you want the FD or us to check on whether he is he occupying the warehouse area?

No, I did not seen this plan (MIS07-00153). I contacted Mr. Fitch and recommended he contact C.S.H.Q.A. regarding qualified design professionals in which to complete a racking permit plan submittal for the existing racking systems within his permitted space.

Scott, have you seen a submittal on this? I'd like to discuss it later this morning if you have. If not could you give this man a call and see what he needs.
Thanks
Sam

Jenifer,

Darren Fitch/EMI Filtration called (###-####) and is requesting an extension on his temporary occupancy permit (MIS07-00153) because of difficulty finding a racking permit company to do the work that needs to be done.

He was referred to you by Troy Cobbley. His temporary occupancy permit expires on October 24. I asked him to put his request in writing and fax it to us but I could not answer his inquiry about a "racking company" referral.

is there someone that can I can refer him to or who can discuss with him on this issue?

June

Provide annual inspection for the fire extinguishers, provide fire protection under the warehouse overhead doors and provide a racking permit for the storage in the warehouse. Per Kathy Weisupp there is no racking permit for this facility.
