1. TOWN HOUSE PARAPETS - A parapet is not required on exterior walls less than 3 feet from a property line for R-3 and U Occupancies built as townhouses with not more than 3,000 square feet for all floor levels (including garage) when the following is provided: (1) Openings in the roof shall not be located within 5 feet of the 1-hour fire-resistive exterior wall, and (2) The entire building shall be provided with not less than a Class B roofing assembly. (Boise City Code 4-02-15)

2. (Wall membrane penetrations) Membrane penetrations of fire-resistive walls shall comply with 1997 UBC Section 709.6 as required for wall through penetrations. (1997 UBC 709.7)

3. (Winding stairways) In R-3 Occupancies and in private stairways in R-1 Occupancies, winding stairways may be used if the required width of run is provided at a point not more than 12 inches from the side of the stairway where the treads are narrower, but in no case shall the width of run be less than 6 inches at any point. (1997 UBC 1003.3.3.8.2)
