(2-22-12 PLAN MODIFICATION TO CHANGE A PORTION OF THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN FOR THE NEW ENCLOSED MEZZANINE AND TO SHORTEN THE COMMON PATH OF EGRESS TRAVEL FROM THE ENCLOSED MEZZANINE TO 80 FEET BY CREATING A 2ND MEANS OF EGRESS THROUGH A 1ST STORY STORAGE ROOM. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MEZZANINE STAIRWAY, MEZZANINE OCCUPANTS WILL HAVE A CHOICE OF 2 MEANS OF EGRESS. TO DEFINE THE EGRESS PATH THROUGH THE STORAGE ROOM, WORK IS TO INCLUDE LOW HEIGHT WALLS, STRIPES PAINTED ON THE FLOOR, AND “EGRESS PATH, KEEP CLEAR” PAINTED ON THE FLOOR.) Fire sprinkler system used for building area increase and to allow hazardous materials. To construct a 1,169 square foot 2nd level within the 5,843 square foot, 24 foot tall portion of this building. Labs will be constructed on the new 2nd level and within the area below the new 2nd level. Structural work includes concrete footings, bearing walls and columns, steel beams, and a steel pan concrete floor deck. The stairway serving the new 2nd level will have steel stringers, steel pan treads with concrete fill, and steel risers. In addition, to remodel the 12,064 square foot, 16 foot tall portion of this building. Existing window openings in the exterior walls (giant brick) will be expanded and new window openings will be created. New window openings will also be created in the existing double “T” exterior walls. Skylight openings will be cut in the existing double “T” roofs. Bulkheads with skylights will be constructed above the roof openings. Work includes 2 restrooms accessible to the disabled, interior walls, interior doors, interior windows, skylights, masonry infill walls, millwork, suspended acoustical ceilings, gypsum board ceilings, and interior finishes. Hazardous materials within this building shall not exceed the allowable quantity per control area specified in 2009 IBC Tables 307.1(1) and 307.1(2). Activities requiring Special Inspection include welding, masonry (including masonry grouting), epoxy anchors, expansion anchors, “Titan” anchors, etc. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural calculations, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances.
