(CAMPBELL & COMPANY - 2ND STORY ADDITION) (10-19-12 PLAN MODIFICATION TO CREATE AN ADDITIONAL RESTROOM [2 TOTAL] ON THE 2ND STORY AND TO CONSTRUCT A JANITOR’S CLOSET. THE SHOWER PAN WITHIN THE JANITOR’S CLOSET IS NOT APPROVED AS A SHOWER AND SHALL NOT HAVE A SHOWER HEAD INSTALLED. ALSO, TO CREATE 3 OFFICES ON THE 2ND STORY AND TO RECONFIGURE THE 1-HR STAIRWAY ENCLOSURE ON THE 2ND STORY.) This building does not have a fire sprinkler system. To create a 6,460 square foot tenant space (3,825 square foot 1st story and 2,635 square foot 2nd story) within an existing building. The total first story floor area of this existing building is 9,726 square feet and the total 2nd story floor area will be 4,585 square feet (14,311 square feet total building area). The existing 424 square foot upper level of this new tenant space will be expanded by 2,211 square feet. A 3-hr fire barrier wall will be constructed to separate the North tenant space (5,925 square foot 1st story and 1,950 square foot 2nd story) from this South tenant space (3,825 square foot 1st story and 2,635 square foot 2nd story) so that the fire area will be less than 12,000 square feet and a fire sprinkler system will not be required. To avoid an elevator within this building, this South tenant space was considered to be independent of the North tenant space for the application of the elevator exception. No doors are allowed in the fire barrier separating the 2 tenant spaces. Structural work is to include concrete footings, steel columns, steel beams, steel floor joists, steel pan deck, concrete floor, steel stud bearing walls, and stairways with steel stringers and concrete filled stair pans. Special Inspection is required for concrete, welding, bolting, and epoxy anchors. The design for the new bar joists is a deferred submittal item. Other work includes a restroom accessible to the disabled, interior nonbearing walls, a 1-hr fire-resistance-rated stairway enclosure, and interior finishes. The structure that supports any portion of the 1-hr stairway enclosure (i.e. columns, beams, joists, bearing walls, floors) or is part of the 1-hr stairway enclosure (i.e. floors, walls) are also required to be of 1-hr fire-resistance-rated construction. Approved fire-resistance-rated assemblies shall be provided to the Structural Inspector. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. This permit is intended to establish a Certificate of Occupancy only for the tenant space located South of the 3-hr fire barrier wall. **CJW**
