(REIFSCHNEIDER RESIDENTIAL CONDO - COMBINING UNITS 205 AND 207) The fire sprinkler system is used for building area increase and for story increase. To combine two residential condominium units (Unit 205 at 1,260 square feet and Unit 207 at 1,304 square feet) into one 2,564 square foot dwelling unit. Work is to include removing about 14 lineal feet of common wall between the 2 units, installing a beam, installing columns, and applying finishes. Special Inspection is required for epoxy anchors. An interior nonstructural demolition permit for unit 207 was issued under BLD12-01815. About 30 feet of interior walls and a restroom were removed under that permit. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to be maintained in compliance with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. All smoke detectors located within the combined tenant space are required to be interconnected. An addendum to the condo plat is required before this permit is finaled. A temporary occupancy was given until a fire alarm pemit is issued and the audible portion of the fire alarm system within the resident rooms is addressed. The apartment addressing has been fixed. All other items were ok.

I met with ED and discussed fire life safety items. They stated that they knew a fire alarm permit would be required for modifications to annunciation since separate apartments are now one. It appears the sprinkler protection will remain ok. I let him know that the building sprinkler system will need to be current with its annual inspection and that I would need to have the exit sign/emergency lights in the path of egress tested.
