(REIFSCHNEIDER GARAGE IN THE GEM-NOBLE BUILDING) The fire sprinkler system is used for area and story increase. To convert a portion of a former retail sales tenant space located on the 1st story of a historic building to a 1,131 square foot motor vehicle garage. The garage will be used by a 2nd story residential tenant to park motor vehicles. A residential elevator will provide access between the 2nd story residential unit and the 1st story garage. Work is to include a residential elevator, 1-hr fire-resistance-rated walls, a door having a 45 minute fire-protection-rating, restoring the 1-hr fire-resistance-rated floor-ceiling above the garage where horizontal plumbing pipes interrupt the gypsum board membrane, a concrete floor slab supported by the existing wood floor joists, an exterior concrete apron above existing coal shoots, a new garage door, a new man door, and an exterior masonry wall. At the new garage door opening, a structural steel header fabricated using two C channels and a tube steel member supported by steel jambs fabricated from tube steel members will be used to transfer gravity loads and to resist lateral loads. Special Inspection is required for steel, welding, concrete, masonry, and epoxy anchors. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**
