(8TH STREET MERCANTILE - SHELL WORK) (5-28-15 PLAN MODIFICATION TO RECONFIGURE TWO SHELL TENANT SPACES, REMOVE TWO 3-HR FIRE CURTAINS, INSTALL A NEW 3-HR FIRE CURTAIN, CONSTRUCT A 3-HR INFILL WALL WITH A 3-HR SIDE-HINGED SELF-CLOSING FIRE DOOR, INSTALL AN INTERIOR RAMP, AND CONSTRUCT AN INTERIOR STEP.) (4-3-15 PLAN MODIFICATION TO ALTER THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SUPPORT CONDITION FOR THE NEW STEEL ENTRY CANOPY AT 8TH STREET. TWO SLOPED STEEL RODS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR STABILITY OF THE CANTILEVERED CANOPY.) Fire sprinkler system used to substitute for 1-hr fire-resistance-rated construction. To demolish the existing interior common stairways that serve the 1st story and the basement located at the common 8th Street entrance and to construct new interior stairways in their place. To create 4 tenant shell spaces in the basement, install new double leaf exterior entry doors at the common 8th Street entrance, and to construct a new exterior and interior steel canopy awning above the common 8th Street entrance. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, interior windows, interior doors, guards, handrails at the new stairways, and finishes. This permit does not establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any tenant. Future tenants must apply for and receive their own individual Certificates of Occupancy. The existing 3-hr fire wall located between the 4 story segment of this building and the 5 story segment of this building is required to be maintained and restored where deficient. The atrium smoke management system is required to be maintained operational per the previously approved design. Special Inspection is required for welding. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, with the structural design, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**
