(FIVE ONE FIVE - PAULSEN BUILDING) (12-22-15 PLAN MODIFICATION TO PROVIDE A SLOPED FLOOR TRANSITION AT THE 2ND STORY, REMOVE THE WEST INTERIOR BASEMENT STAIRWAY, AND TO SHIFT THE MEN’S RESTROOM ON THE 1ST STORY.) The fire sprinkler system is used for story increase and to allow an A-2 Occupancy fire area on the 2nd story. An NFPA 13 fire sprinkler system will be installed in conjunction with this permit. To convert an existing building to a dance hall/studio. Food and beverages shall not be served within this building under this permit. This building has a 1,668 square foot basement used for storage, a 1,717 square foot first story that may be used for food and beverage consumption in the future under a separate permit, and a 1,642 square foot second story used as a dance hall/studio. This building has a total floor area of about 3,359 square feet (about 5,027 square feet including the basement). Work is to include 2 restrooms accessible to the disabled, a new interior landing at the West Idaho Street main entrance door, reconfigured top treads and risers of an existing interior stairway at the 2nd story, and a performance area on the 2nd story. Structural work includes new steel beams to support the interior masonry wall located above a new wall opening on the 2nd story, new steel columns to support the new beams and to transfer the gravity load to the basement, and new concrete footings in the basement to support the new steel columns. Special Inspection is required for soils, welding, concrete, and post installed concrete anchors (e.g. epoxy anchors). Structural Observation by the Engineer of Record is required for bolting the new channel beams and columns through the existing masonry walls. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
