Description
THE DISTRICT CONVENTION CENTER FOR GBAD – BOISE CENTRE EAST AT CITY CENTER PLAZA – 1ST, 2ND, AND 4TH STORIES AND 5TH LEVEL) (10-5-16 PLAN MODIFICATION TO REMOVE THE CONVENTION CENTER KITCHEN FROM THE TENANT IMPROVEMENT SCOPE OF WORK AND TO DO THAT WORK UNDER NEW PERMIT BLD16-03512.) The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and to comply with the high-rise requirements of the building code.

1st Story Delivery: To construct a 525 square foot delivery area having direct access at grade to the exit passageway located between City Center Plaza and the Grove Hotel/CenturyLink Arena. Deliveries for the convention center will be brought from Capitol Blvd. to the delivery area through the exit passageway. Delivery vehicles are not allowed to be parked within the exit passageway. An interior elevator will connect the delivery area to the commercial kitchen located on the level directly above. Work is to include finishes, a freight elevator, a walk-in cooler, and a walk-in freezer. An 8” deep floor depression will be provided for the cooler and for the freezer to accommodate insulated floors. Condensate will drain to a floor sink.

1st Story Convention Center Elevator Lobby: To construct a 1,019 square foot grade level elevator lobby (343 square foot vestibule and 676 square foot lobby) to serve the convention center located on the 4th story above. The exterior entrance is connected directly to The Grove at grade. The non-rated lobby is also the continuation of a 2-hr fire-resistance-rated stairway enclosure to the outside. Work is to include suspended acoustical ceilings, suspended gypsum board ceilings, and finishes.

2nd Story (lower) Kitchen: To construct a 5,745 square foot commercial kitchen on the lower 2nd story to serve the convention center located on the 4th story above. Service elevators connect the kitchen to the convention center. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, two restrooms accessible to the disabled, two grease hood, walk-in coolers, a walk-in freezers, kitchen equipment, suspended acoustical ceilings, and finishes. An 8” deep floor depression will be provided for the coolers and for the freezers to accommodate insulated floors. Condensate will drain to a floor sink.

2nd Story (upper) Escalator/Elevator Lobby and Pre-function / Bridge Connection: To construct a 2,977 square foot Elevator/Escalator Lobby and Pre-function area and a 1,692 square foot Bridge Connection area (4,669 square feet total) on the upper 2nd story to serve as access to the convention center located on the 4th story above. Occupants will generally arrive to this area across a bridge connected to the existing convention center. Escalators and elevators give access from the upper 2nd story to the convention center located on the 4th story above. The Elevator/Escalator Lobby and Pre-function area has access to two exits. The Bridge Connection will have access to one exit at one end and to another exit located within the existing convention center at the other end. Exit signs, emergency lighting, and panic hardware are required. Work is to include suspended acoustical ceilings, suspended gypsum board ceilings and soffits, and finishes.

4th Story Convention Center: To construct a Convention Center that will occupy the entire 49,767 square foot 4th story. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, folding partitions, interior doors, suspended acoustical ceilings, suspended gypsum board ceilings, gypsum board soffits, and finishes. An assisted use toilet room is required because more than 6 water closets are required to serve the occupant load of the convention center. Some door modifications to two stairway enclosures are required to deal with the accumulative occupant loads resulting from the main exit. Special Inspection is required for welding.
