(LIVING WATERS CHURCH – IGLESIA BAUTISTA AGUA VIVA – BUILDING ADDITION) (CUP16-00069) This building does not have a fire sprinkler system. To construct a 384 square foot classroom addition to an existing building that is being used as a church. The footings and foundation were constructed under permit BLD16-03723. After the addition, this building will have a total floor area of about 3,964 square feet. Work is to include concrete footings, concrete foundations, a wood joist floor system, wood exterior bearing and braced walls, wood truss roof with structural sheathing, a roof cricket, exterior windows, exterior wall coverings, and interior finishes. The existing restrooms will be upgraded to be accessible to the disabled. Since there is no record of this building ever being legally converted to a church, this permit is intended to establish a Certificate of Occupancy for the entire building as a church. The design for the roof trusses is a deferred submittal item. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the conventional light-frame construction provisions of the 2012 IBC, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. **CJW**

I met with the Pastor and an electrician and went over the exit sign, emergency light, exit discharge requirements as shown on the plans. I also let them know the non-functional fire alarm system will need to be addressed.

Inspection turned into a conference in which we discussed the door hardware issues and where to place the exit signs and emergency lights. We discussed fire extinguisher placement and the non-functional fire alarm system that does not meet current code but may have met the code it was installed under. The issue is the approved plans indicate two new strobes and the building only has old bells on the interior walls.
