(THE DISTRICT CONVENTION CENTER KITCHEN AND ESCALATORS FOR GBAD – BOISE CENTRE EAST AT CITY CENTER PLAZA – 1ST, 2ND, AND 4TH STORIES) The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and to comply with the high-rise requirements of the building code. This work was formerly permitted under BLD15-02494 for the Convention Center kitchen located on the lower 2nd story and the support area located on the 1st story and under BLD14-03207 for the Convention Center escalators.

1st Story Delivery: To construct a 525 square foot delivery area having direct access at grade to the exit passageway located between City Center Plaza and the Grove Hotel/CenturyLink Arena. Deliveries for the convention center will be brought from Capitol Blvd. to the delivery area through the exit passageway. Delivery vehicles are not allowed to be parked within the exit passageway. An interior elevator will connect the delivery area to the commercial kitchen located on the level directly above. Work is to include finishes, a freight elevator, a walk-in cooler, and a walk-in freezer. An 8” deep floor depression will be provided for the cooler and for the freezer to accommodate insulated floors. Condensate will drain to a floor sink.

2nd Story (lower) Kitchen: To construct a 5,745 square foot commercial kitchen on the lower 2nd story to serve the convention center located on the 4th story above. Service elevators connect the kitchen to the convention center. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, two restrooms accessible to the disabled, two grease hood, walk-in coolers, a walk-in freezer, kitchen equipment, suspended acoustical ceilings, and finishes. An 8” deep floor depression will be provided for the coolers and for the freezers to accommodate insulated floors. Condensate will drain to a floor sink.

Escalator between the 2nd Story (upper) Lobby and the 4th story Lobby: To install an escalator between the 2nd story Convention Center lobby and 4th story Convention Center lobby. Occupants will generally arrive at the 2nd Story (upper) Lobby across a bridge connected to the existing convention center. The escalators and elevators will give access from the upper 2nd story lobby to the convention center lobby located on the 4th story above. The escalator was formerly permitted under BLD14-03207. Refer to the drawings and documents under that permit for additional information about the escalators, including the structural design and details and the plan review comments.

The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
