(FORM & FUNCTION COFFEE SHOP – FOWLER BUILDING – 1ST STORY – NORTHWEST CORNER) The fire sprinkler system is used for story and area increase and as required by the “Special Design Standards for Type V Construction” as adopted by the City of Boise. Early start permit BLD17-02617 was issued to do under slab plumbing work. A separate plumbing permit was required. To prepare an existing 1,308 square foot shell space to be used as a coffee shop. A 409 square foot open mezzanine will be constructed. After the mezzanine is constructed, the total floor area of this tenant space will be about 1,659 square feet (1,250 square feet 1st story and 409 square feet 1st story mezzanine – 58 square feet of the stairway was not included). No more than 25% of the total seating within this tenant space is allowed to be on the mezzanine. The mezzanine construction includes concrete footings, steel stud bearing and shear walls with gypsum board sheathing, shear wall hold-downs, steel beams attached to existing concrete columns, steel floor joists, and a concrete floor on top of a steel deck. The mezzanine floor is required to have a 2-hr fire-resistance-rating. Columns, beams connected directly to columns, and bearing walls supporting the mezzanine are required to have a 3-hr fire-resistance-rating. The mezzanine was designed for a 100 psf live load. The mezzanine will be served by a stairway having steel stringers and steel treads. Special Inspection is required for anchors post installed in hardened concrete (including epoxy, screw, and expansion anchors) and for spray applied fire proofing. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
