(CRUNCH FITNESS – EXISTING BUILDING REMODEL FOR A WHOLE BUILDING FITNESS TENANT) (DRH17-00491) (BLD17-01520) The fire sprinkler system is used for story increase, for building area increase, for fire area, and for code trade-offs. To remodel an existing 34,887 square foot building (25,779 square feet 1st story and 9,108 square feet 2nd story) for a new fitness tenant. Permit BLD17-01520 was issued to perform interior nonstructural demolition. A portion of the floor of the 2nd story will be removed. According to the Project Structural Engineer “the removed floor does not provide structural support to any remaining building elements”. Work includes compacted fill in the existing swimming pool and spa and a concrete slab on grade over the fill; new roof coverings at sloped roofs; sloped roof extensions at removed skylights; new exterior windows; concrete footings, steel columns, wood beams, and wood roof deck to support a new exterior wall and attic above the main entry; repair of finishes within the 2nd story toilet/shower rooms; new finishes for two existing single-user toilet/shower rooms accessible to the disabled on the 1st story; a single-user toilet room accessible to the disabled on the 1st story; modifications to the existing steel roof trusses to support new roof top HVAC units; millwork, and finishes. Special Inspection is required for soils, concrete, and steel (including welding of existing roof trusses). The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design and analysis, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
