(DISCOVERY CHURCH – PLATFORM AND SEATING REMODEL WITHIN THE SANCTUARY) The fire sprinkler system is used for fire area and for code trade-offs. To remodel the existing 3,416 square foot sanctuary within an existing church building having a total 1st story floor area of about 7,662 square feet and a total basement area of about 7,667 square feet. The existing platform, sound booth, and a ceiling soffit above the former platform will be removed. Work is to include a new 26 inch high platform having a floor area of about 552 square feet and served by 2 stairways, a wheelchair lift to provide an accessible route for the disabled to and from the platform, a new 26 inch high sound booth having a floor area of about 115 square feet and served by one stairway being exempt from a vertical accessible route because it is an employee work area and its elevation is essential to the function of the space, wall infills, interior doors, and a ceiling repair. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. This is a scope of work permit only. It does not modify the existing Certificate of Occupancy. This permit shall not be finaled until the land parcels at the church building are combined and a new deed and parcel number assigned so that the church building is compliant with the building code. The church has committed to resolve this issue by December 4, 2019. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**

The stage and the sound booth floors have both been filled with non-combustible insulation. They are ok for cover. We also spoke about the need for a fire alarm permit for the modifications.
