(BOISE POLICE DEPARTMENT – DOWNTOWN STATION) (DRH19-00291) (CVA19-00029) (GREEN BUILDING REMODEL/RENOVATION-2012 IGCC) (5-27-20 PLAN MODIFICATION TO REVISE THE BIKE RAMP SERVING THE BASEMENT AND THE ADJACENT HANDRAIL THAT IS INTENDED TO SERVE THE STAIRWAY PER A CODE MODIFICATION APPROVED BY JASON BLAIS, BUILDING OFFICIAL, AND TO REMOVE THE HOOD FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM ABOVE THE BREAKROOM RANGE. THE REACH DISTANCE OVER THE RAMP WAS APPROVED BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL TO BE A MAXIMUM OF 16 INCHES FROM THE STAIRWAY TREADS TO THE CENTER OF THE HANDRAIL.) This building will have a fire sprinkler system. Interior nonstructural demolition work was done under permit BLD20-00421. To remodel and enlarge an existing building to function as a police station. This building is expected to comply with the 2015 International Green Construction Code. After the addition, the total building area will be about 5,455 square feet (about 1,384 square feet basement, about 2,837 square feet within the building thermal envelope on the 1st story, and about 1,234 square feet within the unconditioned area below the roof on the 1st story). Basement work includes a new exterior concrete retaining wall, a new covered exterior concrete stairway with an adjacent concrete bike ramp, a wider exterior door at the bottom of the exterior stairway, interior nonbearing walls, a new interior stairway with steel stringers and concrete filled pan treads, interior doors, and a laundry room (dryers will have booster fans). The basement will be used for bicycle maintenance, laundry, storage, and mechanical. Work on the 1st story includes concrete footings, concrete foundations, concrete slabs on grade, steel columns with steel base plates and anchors, a masonry fence to enclose a new covered patio, decorative metal wall panels, steel gates, metal ceilings above the patio, steel beams, a new opening in an existing masonry exterior wall with a new steel header above, exterior masonry wall infills, steel exterior siding, sun shade awnings, repair of the underside of the concrete slab between the basement and the 1st story, steel stud exterior walls at the building addition, steel stud roof parapets, steel roof joists, plywood roof sheathing, rigid insulation on top of the roof deck, a membrane roof covering, gypsum board ceilings, suspended acoustical ceilings, interior nonbearing walls, a single-user toilet room accessible to the disabled, three toilet/shower/locker rooms with two accessible to the disabled, interior “high” and “low” drinking fountains, exterior “high” and “low” drinking fountains, interior doors, exterior doors, exterior windows, concrete patches for slab on grade floors where trenches will be cut to accommodate underslab plumbing, millwork, and finishes. Special Inspection is required for soils, concrete, masonry, steel (including welding and bolting), and anchors post-installed in hardened concrete. Fence work around the secured vehicular parking area includes concrete footings, concrete foundations, tube steel columns, steel wall panels, steel gates with access control, and an automatic vehicle pivot gate with sensors. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
