All wiring damaged by heat or water shall be replaced as needed. Where units have totally opened up walls and ceilings, wiring shall be replaced to all new codes. Areas with only smoke damage not required to be brought up to code due to wiring not being replaced. BCC 4-05-32 Code violations not to be retained. City ordinance requires code violations to be repaired even if damage is not present. Found paddle fans installed on boxes not rated for fans and microwaves installed on general lighting circuits with splice buried in walls. If fans to remain listed boxes shall be installed. Circuits shall be added for microwaves or hoods shall be istalled to eliminate overloads. If additional life safety code violations are found during rebuild they shall be repaired.
