To add one H/S to a corridor that has been split by double acting doors added to afford visual coverage for notification appliances per NFPA 72 for corridor spacing. The existing required manual system includes sprinkler monitoring, fire/smoke damper control, HVAC shutdown and notification throughout.

9/30/2004 - Revised Scope of work: The double acting doors that have been installed in the corridor are glass. The concept is that the existing H/Ss located in the corridor (see attached partial plans) provide sufficient coverage. The PDS Fire Inspector shall field verify the existing H/S afford the proper coverage (visible from all areas in the corridor). In the event that the existing H/S do afford the coverage, comments #6 and #7 will not apply. In the event the PDS Fire Inspector has reason to believe the existing H/S coverage does not afford the appropriate coverage, then comments #6 and #7 shall apply and the Notice of Correction will stand.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-00038) is to remodel classroom to create another science lab on the second floor of an existing Jr. High School. Work includes new mechanical exhaust system, lab sinks and separate fume hood. Building is fully fire sprinklered and no separations are required for Group E lab. Other work includes new double acting doors across corridor which are not permitted to latch or lock. All work per approved plans and attachments.
