Demolition of an existing manual fire alarm system which includes thirteen (13) notification appliances, fourteen (14) smoke detectors and six (6) manual pull stations. All unused low voltage wire must be removed from the building (NEC 2002).

The existing fire alarm control panel will remain and be used to monitor eleven (11) duct smoke detectors for HVAC shutdown, smoke detector for panel protection, a single manual pull station and audible horn in a non-public normally occupied space. Remote monitoring will be included.

8/26/2004 - Revised Scope: A new fire alarm panel (Silent Knight; SK-5208) is being installed as the original will not function. As the FACP is changing, the existing remote annunciator is not listed for use with the SK-5208, so a Silent Knight; SK-5235 will be installed.

8/26/2004 - Security devices are being installed, a plan modification resubmittal is required to accommodate their locations and the proper fire alarm response per IFC 1003.3.1.3.4.

8/31/2004 - The following doors have been shown to have security devices:
" Seven (7) exterior doors
" Four (4) court yard doors
" One (1) computer room (146) door
" One (1) conference room (138) door
" One (1) interior hall door at entrance (100)

Per an e-mail(dated 8/31/2004) from Nick Schaefer (Synergy), the security panel will receive a signal from the FACP to release the doors.

The associated building permit (BLD 03-02891) is to add a 5,000 square foot, one story wood framed office addition to the southwest corner of an existing 14,800 square foot, one story wood framed office building. This permit is also for the remodel of the existing building, including updating all restrooms to be fully handicapped accessible. Total area of building with addition is 19,800 square feet. This permit also includes related site work at the south side of the building. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list.
