To provide a flow switch and a tamper switch on the duct quench line of the sprinkler system for monitoring with the existing fire alarm system. The required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, door release and notification throughout.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-01022) is to install an 8" diameter fume exhaust duct from Drum Unload Room #107D to an existing 14" diameter fume exhaust duct above Corridor #100J. This new 8' duct will be continuously wrapped with a two-hour fire-resistive rated #M Firemaster duct wrap. The duct will be protected with a fire sprinkler quench system at the penetration of the two-hour fire barrier wall. This quench system is an approved alternate to the required shaft enclosure approved by the Building & Fire Department (see copy of attached alternate approval). The associated sprinkler permit (FIR04-00513) is to install fire sprinkler protection (2 heads) on each side of a two-hour fire barrier (here known to be the ceiling). This work is related to the installation of the 8" diameter, continuously wrapped, with 3M "Firemaster" for a two-hour fire-resistive rated duct wrap fume exhaust duct, from Drum Unload Room #107D to an existing 14" diameter fume exhaust duct above Corridor #100J. This quench system is on record as an approved alternate to the required shaft enclosure approved by Dave Miller. This fire protection work shall comply with the IFC 2000 and the permit review comments; each regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code.
