Description |
To provide total coverage notification throughout the entire 3rd floor. As part of the fire alarm upgrade (10/25/2004), this floor is to be brought up to 2000IFC and 2002NFPA 72 requirements. The required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown, high rise requirements and total coverage notification throughout.
The associated building permit (BLD 04-01253) is to remodel the 3rd floor (17,073 square feet) of an existing high-rise building for a whole floor tenant (15,900 net square feet). For exit separation reasons, a 2-hr fire barrier intended to function as a horizontal exit will be constructed to divide the floor into two egress areas. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, 2-hr fire barrier walls with fire doors, interior doors and windows, and glass block walls all per the approved drawings and the plan review report on file. The restrooms are also being upgraded to be accessible to the disabled.
