Description
To replace an existing required manual fire alarm system in the existing school and portables and extend the system into the new gymnasium and class addition. The required manual fire alarm system includes HVAC shutdown, area coverage (portables only), firefly door release and notification throughout.

IFC 907.2.1 Group A. A manual fire alarm system shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 72 in Group A occupancies having an occupant load of 300 or more. Portions of Group E occupancies occupied for assembly purposes shall be provided with a fire alarm as required for the Group E occupancy.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-00709) is to construct a new 17,175 sq. ft. single story, Type VB, fully fire sprinklered gymnasium & class addition. The addition is considered as a separate building with a 2 hour fire wall separating the existing Type V1hr building. Other work includes all site improvements, paving and landscaping. All work is per approved plans and attachments. Fire sprinklers are used for area in the addition and the existing building shall also be fire sprinklered to satisfy IFC fire flow requirements.
