To provide required total area smoke detection and notification (speaker/strobes) on the core areas of the 12th, 14th and penthouse floors (NO OCCUPANCY). The required manual fire alarm system includes required automatic detection, HVAC shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, door release and notification (speaker/strobes) throughout. As this is a high rise, the fire department communication system is required in all elevators, elevator lobbies and inside enclosed stairwells at each floor.
The associated building permit (BLD 04-02671) is to perform shell work within the Hoff Building (basement, 12th story, 13th story, and the 13th story mezzanine). Work is to include upgrading the basement and 12th story restrooms to be accessible to the disabled. The interior walls and doors of the existing "open exterior stairway" will also be reconfigured on the 12th story. A 2-hr wall will be constructed and a 90 minute door will be installed. This permit does NOT establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any tenant. Shell work on the 12th story, 13th story, and the 13th story mezzanine was done in anticipation of a future office tenant who will occupy all 3 levels. All work shall comply with the approved drawings, the plan review report, and all applicable codes.
