Description |
To add a duct smoke detector for HVAC shutdown to an existing sprinkler monitoring fire alarm system. The following building permit scope defines the addition of the building. There are two FACPs located within the strip mall (separate addresses, 8079 and 8061 Emerald). A fire barrier will be constructed on the west wall of the addition for separation. (See IFC review comment #1 for additional information) The duct detector will be connected to zone 1 of the existing FACP at address 8061 Emerald. The duct detector is powered from the unit, therefore the battery calculations appear acceptable. The location of the RTS will be as shown on the plans. No written comments, PDS Fire Inspector to field verify proper location of duct smoke detector, RTS and functionality. An updated building map shall be provided at time of inspection.
The associated building permit BLD04-02828 is to construct a 2500 square foot, one story, masonry exterior walls with wood framed roof addition to the existing 5585 square foot retail sales tenant space. This addition is being constructed between two existing buildings and will connect to and infill between each building to create one large building. The two existing buildings are the Shops on Emerald Building A&B (18,000 sq. ft.) and Building C&D (12,780 sq. ft.). The new total building area for the two existing buildings and the addition will be 33,280 square feet. This building is fully fire sprinklered and used allowable area increase. This building was reviewed as mixed occupancies (A-2 & M) with the unseparated use option. The two original buildings were reviewed as type VB construction, but qualify as type IIIB construction and have been reclassified as type IIIB.
