Description
FIR05-00185 is to upgrade the existing fire alarm system (a single FACP) in the shopping center. (A copy of the upgrade agreement is on sheet F0.0.) A required manual fire alarm system is required in the northwest corner of the center (Mike's Restaurant, Primerica, Calvary Chapel, Stage Coach Theatre and Heart and Home) due to the A occupancy load. The remainder of the shopping center will consist of sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown and cooking hood monitoring. Albertson's has its' own FACP and will be allowed to do so due to the fire barriers that separate fire areas.

The associated building permit (BLD 05-00660) is to extend existing 1-hr fire barrier walls through the canopy at the Hillcrest Shopping Center. The fire barriers will define separate fire areas for alarm systems. The new 1-hr fire barrier walls installed in the canopy shall be continuous through concealed spaces within the canopy and shall extend at least 18" below the canopy ceiling. Existing fire barrier walls shall be extended and upgraded, if necessary, to create a complete separation where it is deficient. Openings shall be protected and penetrations fire stopped. The fire sprinkler system shall comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW** (HILLCREST SHOPPING CENTER - CODE UPGRADE) This building is required to be fire sprinklered because it is an unlimited area building.

FIR05-00186 is to provide monitoring of a cooking hood and two duct smoke detectors for HVAC shutdown to the existing required sprinkler monitoring system.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-02195) is to convert an existing 4,450 square foot tenant space to a restaurant (4,085 square foot main floor and 365 square foot mezzanine). This space was formerly used for retail sales. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, two restrooms accessible to the disabled, a grease hood and duct, a hood and duct over a dishwasher, a stairway to serve the existing mezzanine, upgraded and extended 1-hr fire barrier walls, and interior finishes all per the approved drawings and the plan review report on file. Within the remodel area, the fire sprinkler heads shall be located or relocated to comply with NFPA 13-2002 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW** (MONGOLIAN BISTRO - HILLCREST SHOPPING CENTER) This building is fire sprinklered for unlimited area of the building.

INSP-Alarm Testing8/18/20058/19/20058/19/2005 PART
All that was tested today and passed was the phone lines, battery draw, the smoke detector above the main facp and the interconnection between the fire alarm panel and the NAC panels. What did not pass today was the loss of a/c power was not detected on the stagecoach NAC panel and the NAC panels are not labeled to match the map and the plans. They need to show up on the panel as #1, #2 and #3. Also loss of batteries comes in labeled as a gate valve. These points between the NAC's and the main facp need to be retested to verify that the description/device matches the action. Per the alarm contractor the tamper switch in the pit is off line due to construction of a water line that damaged that part of the circuit.
