To replace an existing fire alarm system. The required manual fire alarm system includes fire sprinkler riser monitoring, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall, voluntary smoke detectors in the second floor office and notification throughout. Manual pull stations not required per IFC 907.2.7 exception.

The associated building permit (BLD05-00627) is to construct a 7650 square foot, one story, addition on the east end of the existing Franklin Towne Plaza IV building and related site improvements. This addition is for the expansion of the existing Michaels Arts & Crafts tenant space. This permit will also include the remodel of the Michaels tenant space to add a new 390 sq. ft. classroom space and a new office area at the northwest corner of the retail space and to add a new 800 sq. ft. framing room at the southwest area of the retail space. The addition was able to be done by vacating the Bird Street right-of-way and relocating the east property line. The entire Franklin Towne Plaza IV building is considered one building. The sprinkler system is used for area increase. The new building area with the addition is 51,750 square feet, first floor 38,690 sq. ft., second floor 13,060 sq. ft.. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. JCM - - 8/23/05 - - This permit is being modified to relocate the new office, cash room and classroom to the north wall of the new expansion at the east side of the building and to remove the two existing small entry vestibules and construct one new larger entry vestibule.
