To replace an existing fire sprinkler monitoring system. The required sprinkler monitoring system includes HVAC shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, door release and elevator recall/shutdown.
The associated fire sprinkler permit (BLD 05-01295) is to remodel the interior of an existing two story 15,690 sq. ft. building. Each floor has 7,845 sq. ft. The first floor has a 2,018 sq. ft. assembly room. Work to include providing a new fire sprinkler system throughout the entire building, some new interior walls and doors, upgrading guards and handrails on existing stairways, upgrading two restrooms on the second floor to current accessibility standards, providing panic hardware on doors where required, new accessible door hardware throughout the entire building, interior finish, some suspended ceiling work, new mechanical work including a new boiler with associated equipment and a new rooftop unit, some plumbing work, and some electrical work. A Certificate of Occupancy is to be issued when completed and approved. Nonseparated Uses per IBC Section 302.3.1. NOTE: This building will be fully fire sprinklered under this permit. Fire sprinklers allow area and story increase to A-3 basic allowable, allow non-rated exit corridors, allow unenclosed exit stairways, and allow non-rated mechanical/boiler room. The mechanical/boiler room, however, is a sprinklered incidental use area and is to be smoke tight construction with full height walls, self-closing smoke sealed doors, and smoke dampers at any duct penetrations.
