(GEM & NOBLE BUILDING RENOVATION) To install a complete wet pipe, Light and OH-2 Occupancy fire sprinkler system in an existing 40'-0" high, (full) basement and 2 story 34,300-ft/2 historic building. Building area is: 11,400-ft/2 basement, 11,400-ft/2 1st story, 11,500-ft/2 2nd story. Building construction work involved with this facility is seismic upgrade, an interior 1-hr stairway, 1-hr corridors, an elevator, 1-hr shafts, new skylights and nine (9) dwelling units on the 2nd floor. Future permits are required for each tenant space to establish occupancy. A (building) demolition permit was issued earlier under BLD04-01307, which was voided 03/08/2005. This building will be fire sprinklered for building area and story increase. It is also being used to allow reduced exit separation on the 2nd story and in the basement, to allow a 27'-0" dead end corridor on the 2nd story, and to allow the common path of egress travel for some dwelling units on the 2nd story to exceed 75'-0" in length. The underground is not included in this permit, but was permitted separately under FIR06-00226. The cavity and 2nd floor is designed for Light Hazard Occupancies per NFPA13-1-4.7.1, Table 12.1.10.1.1, with the 2nd floor modified for NFPA 13-11.2.3.5.1* Residential Sprinklers. The basement and 1st floor are being designed for Ordinary Group 2 occupancy. All portions of the fire protection system design and installation shall comply with the IFC 2000, the attached review comments/conditions and "red lined" stamped plans, as regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments/conditions, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code.
