The Permitted Work Scope: Over Head Only
Modify the existing system by adding 71 QR heads to accommodate a new ceiling layout. The existing standard response heads throughout the 257,200-ft/2 facility with exception of the atrium, will be changed out to Quick Response type heads. Fourteen hundred heads will be affected out side of the construction area of 17,460-ft/2 permitted due to this part of the scope. The fire sprinkler system work shall comply with the IFC 2003, the attached review comments/conditions, as regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments/conditions, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. This permit is attached to BLD07-02967.
When tenant work affects fire sprinkler protection outside the permitted work area due to the installation of tenant-demising or new partition walls, the affected area sprinkler coverage outside the BLD permit will fall under the Fire Permit scope of work, to maintain the required fire protection within the fire sprinklered facility. The “Riser” and its supplies which include all appurtenances (including tamper, alarm and alarm monitoring) relating to the normal and correct function and integrity of this system will fall under the jurisdiction for code compliant verification. 4/18/08-SCOPE MODIFICATION: The "plan approval" done in conjunction with this permit includes the replacement of existing standard response sprinklers with QR sprinklers as stated above, however the "scope" of this permit is modified so this "permit" will apply only to the work to be completed within the area associated with TI permit BLD07-02967, i.e. 71 sprinkler heads involved. The installation of QR heads throughout the remainder of the building will occur as TI work is done in 12 separate "phases", each under a separate building (BLD) permit, over the next 2-3 months. Separate FIR permit applications will be submitted by TVFP for sprinkler modifications to be made in conjunction with the TI work to be done under each of those building permits. SLR
