Description
This fire alarm permit is to replace an existing 4010 FACP with a new 4100U in the existing building, and to add a new 4100U FACP in the new building expansion. Scope of this permit is also to include a full manual fire alarm system, monitoring and releasing an existing preaction system, two new pre-action systems, and a new clean-agent system. Scope to include monitoring existing, as well as new, HVAC monitoring and in-duct detectors. The panels are networked to operate as one panel.

12-9-08 PLAN MODIFICATION:
This plan modification of the original permit scope is to utilize one 4100U, rather than two. In addition, smoke detectors are being added and/or relocated above the ceiling in Data Room 160 because of beam obstructions.

Associated building permit for reference: BLD07-03132 (SuperValu Westpark Data Center Expansion and Remodel) To demo and remodel the western portion of this existing data center and to constructed a new 16,150 square foot, one story addition at the northwest and west sides of the existing building. This permit also includes the construction of a 140'x45' masonry wall enclosure for new electrical equipment. The new addition will include a new data storage area, a new receiving area and three new UPS/electrical rooms. The remodeled area will include a rearranged office area, a meeting room, operations command center, storage, mechanical and staging areas. This building is fully fire sprinkled. The sprinklers are used for area increase. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. JCM

Need the north red alarm strobe repaired and tested, the new duct smoke detector does not shut down the hvac unit and the fire alarm system needs to be finished in the existing east rooms.

Alarm and supervisory conditions for both the new sprinkler risers and the two existing risers tested today, functionality testing passed for all four preaction systems, noted the wall mounted PIV for the new west riser is not adjusted correctly to activate within 1/5 of valve closure, also discovered the outside bell at the existing riser is not operational. Discussed SD locations at beam pockets in the corridor and mounting heights of existing pull stations at the east side of the building.

No inspection was performed today but a correction notice was left with Mark. The correction notice lists: Provide resubmittals showing the door mag/locks and test the interconnection with the fire alarm panel, the two amber strobes inside of and the two red strobes outside of the large preaction room are the incorrect candella as per the plans, all of the alarm interconnections with the existing and new preaction sprinkler systems need to be tested, the graphic annunciator is non-functional and needs to be tested/repaired, the alarm system for the large preaction room needs tested, the facp needs to be re-programmed to operate the preaction valves per review comment #3, provide tests reports reflecting the devices already tested as marked on the resubmitted plans and provide a completed/installed fire alarm system that is fully functional with a clear panel as per IFC 907.18.

Additional initiating devices were tested today. See the city approved plans for devices. The fire alarm plans need to be resubmitted showing the door magnets. Also the fire alarm panel is having undefined troubles showing up and the graphic annunciator is not operating. No more testing will be done until the fire alarm system is completely functional.

See the city approved plans for devices tested. The audio/visuals were also tested. The interconnections between the NAC panels tested ok. The existing NAC panel in the mechanical room needs 12.7 ah batteries. Supervision failed on the 110ah battery backup.
