This project is not ready for a final yet. This inspection was only for a sprinkler rough-in. The sanctuary is ok to cover except for the north soffit. It did not have the insulation installed by the contractor yet.

I met John, the job superintendant, on site and gave the approval to cover the main east/west corridor. One upright sprinkler head still has not be centered as per the correction notice. John stated that he would leave an access for me to check this head later. He stated that the fire sprinkler contractor had contacted the city plan review and that they were waiting plans. I looked it up on the computer and could find no record of a resubmittal. John was going to followup with Shilo. The Sanctuary is not approved for cover.

See the city approved plans for the locations of the deficiencies. They include flat faced bushings used in multiple locations which are not allowed per NFPA 13, sprinkler piping installed as 1" instead of the 1 1/4" as shown on the plans in the Sanctuary remote area, 11/4" piping installed where 1 1/2" piping is shown on the plans under the platform in the Sanctuary, the upright sprinkler heads located in the flat truss locations need to be centered in the truss space or aligned with the trusses as per NFPA 13, two upright sprinkler heads in the kitchen area are located too close to one another, the wron backflow preventor has been installed and 3" piping has been installed from the backflow preventor to the FDC tie in but the plans show 4", the riser detail shows 4" piping above the redi riser but 3" has been installed.

The inspection started and ended in the Sanctuary. The piping in the remote area is shown as 2" on the city approved plans. As installed the piping appears to be 1 1/4" or 1 1/2". Plans need to be resubmitted or the approved sized piping needs to be installed. I looked at the hydraulic calculations to verify actual pipe size but node points are missing on the plans and center to center lengths do not match. Similiarly a branchline on the north side of the building is shown to go from 1 1/4" in size to 1 1/2" then back to 1 1/4". I did not verify if it had been installed that way yet. Also lag bolts have been used to attach the earthquake braces to the structure which is not allowed per NFPA 13. From the floor it does not appear that the side sammy's supporting the main piping have not been mounted the required 3" minimum distance from the bottom of the cord. Also sprinkler protection is required in the area where the speakers will be mounted. The inspection was stopped at this point until all pipe sizing is verified and the earthquake bracing/hangers are addressed.
