Description
The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of two new sprinkler systems to an existing building. There will be one wet system that protects the first floor. There will be one dry system that protects the second floor and attic. The dry system will utilize galvanized piping. There is a limited existing fire protection that will be reused in various locations. Flexible sprinkler drops will be employed on this project.

North Junior High School - Gymnasium Addition & Remodel - To demo all interior partitions and finishes west of grid line "J" at the basement and 1st floor gym. To remove northeast stairway east of grid line "J" and demo and remove west exterior wall. To construct a new 3,755 sq. ft. addition at the west end of the basement & refinish entire basement to include new elevator, interior ramps, locker rooms, equip. storage, mech. room., class room, weight room, wrestling room and new egress hallways and new west stair enclosure. to construct an new 3,880 sq. ft. first floor addition on the west end of the existing gym to enlarge gym to 10,590 sq. ft. and a new entry vestibule, new restrooms & stair enclosure at west end of gym. There will be a divider wall at the center of the gym to divide the gym into two areas. To also construct a new 825 sq. ft. mechanical mezzanine at the new addition. An elevator is being installed to provide an accessible route to the basement and second floor. The scope of work for this project will also include a sprinkler upgrade. The sprinkler piping in the interstitial space and the attic area passed inspection. Steve and I noted several chase doors that will need to be removed/permanantly closed that are obstructing attic sprinklers. Several shipping caps had been left on the uprights and steve will go through the system and re-verify that all have been removed. Viking was in the process of lenghtening several sprig ups and providing additional hangers at arm-overs in the interstitial space.

Noted items include missing flexible couplings at four locations, one open outlet at the library room for attic protection, missing return bend per detail #7 on plans at four pendent heads, main and branch line pitch for dry systems to be maintained per NFPA, annotated field changes at two rooms for sw heads installed in lieu of pendent heads as shown on plans.
