The hydro test for the anti-freeze system passed. Most of the deficiencies from the previous correct notice have been addressed. I deferred the contractor to Tim Frost on wether resubmittals will be again required due to these as-builts not matching what is actually installed. This includes main locations and pipe routing which could affect the hydraulic calculations. Also there are still painted/covered heads over the sales floor. The unsprinklered attic has been painted white with some sort of chemical but no information was provided for fire retardant verification. Not all of the wood had been painted either.

Todays inspection was for the coolers and freezers. See the city approved plans for coolers and freezers where piping and pendants where ok. The dairy cooler has fan units causing obstructions to the pendant sprinklers. One arm over requires a hanger above the meat cooler.

Todays inspection was for the majority of the project. I could only pass acouple of small areas where the piping could be covered. These areas have been marked on the city approved plans. All other areas have been installed differently from the approved plans. This includes additional fittings at the bottom of the riser, in feed mains, in riser nipples and branchlines. Sprinkler heads are overspaced in the rear storage area where new 2" piping is installed. Ten upright heads over the storage area at the front of the building have not been installed yet. The 4" feed and cross main at the front of the store have been rerouted. Plans and hydraulic calculations need to be resubmitted showing all of the changes and as-installed piping.

The new sprinkler piping in the dry storage area as marked on the city approved plans can be covered. The piping supply to this area does not match the approved pipe size but I verified through the hydraulic calculations that the pipe size installed was proven. The sprinkler piping in the Deli area can not be covered due to heads being overspaced and lack of protection on either side of the cooking hood.

The piping to the 10 pendants in the dry storage area in the rear of the store is ok to cover and the piping in the front canopy is ok to cover. I noted that the unsprinklered area above the sprinkler area of the canopy will required an inspection to verify that the fire retardant has been applied when completed. The general contractor stated that a special inspection was going to be performed to verify correct application of the fire retardant and he would supply paper work for verification.
