8-24-09: PLAN MODIFICATION
This plan modification is to provide additional VESDA panels and relocate a panel to accommodate field modifications.
5-21-09:
This fire alarm permit is to install a VESDA system in cooler and freezer areas for initiation of pre-action sprinkler system. This system will be required to be connected to the FACP installed by a separate contractor under permit FIR09-00176.
Associated building permit: BLD08-01555 Winco Foods Distribution Center (Shell Only) - To construct a new 712,555 square foot, one story, concrete tilt-up and steel frame warehouse shell building and related site improvements. This building will contain dry goods, cooler and freezer warehouse areas, as well as, office and maintenance support areas. This building is fully fire sprinkled. The sprinklers are used for area. This building is an unlimited area building. Minimum 60 foot open yards and public ways must be maintained around this building. This permit is for a cold shell only and no occupancy is allowed under this permit. A separate tenant improvement permit is required to finish this building for occupancy. Separate permits are required to construct the other proposed accessory buildings. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. DRH07-00594 JCM

Continued inspection completed 8/27 afternoon and evening by F. France and B. Johnson for the remainder permit work including correction items. Room signage, building map, program changes, and breaker lock okayed, vesda faults tested okay, signals at main FACP verified, low air supervisory signals tested, alert and alarm signals sent/recieved, transport times at several systems measured and found to be under max. time limits, systems 22, 23, 24, 25 and 17 passed, system 18 failed. Continued testing while system 18 repaired. Sequence of operation passed for the freezer systems including rack systems 26,27,28,29, and area served. Repairs at system 18 modules and VESDA completed and retested okay per B. Johnson. Final pending NFPA 72 record of inspection and testing and record of completion documents for signature.

Items noted during a lengthy inspection completed 8/26 morning and afternoon include failure to initiate alarm condition at the first three single interlock systems checked 16, 19, and 20, missing labels at some VESDA units, led lamps do not illuminate at some modules on trouble condition at the freezer vesdas, noted end cap locations at the floor level have not been installed per design-caps are now at the ceiling deck at all systems. After program changes made while on site, alarm condition for the single interlock system 16 rechecked and found to incorrectly initiate solenoid release for all fourteen single and double interlock systems, overspacing of detectors at systems 16,17,18 and 21 okayed after repairs made, continued testing after more program changes showed systems 19, 20, 21, and 16 functioned correctly.

Deficient items found during the first three hours of inspection include missing NFPA 72 Record of Inspection and Testing with a copy of supervising station signals report per plan review note #3, missing signage per review note #1, provide a lock and label at the power circut breaker to the panel, A/C power off failed to report to the main FACP-see note #5, per details on approved plans 90 deg. ells to be avoided and 6" to 10" clearance to be provided at each side of the freezer wall to avoid ice plugs-noted significant frosting at these locations, the first VESDA fault at system 28 did not report, plans incorrectly show location of system 27, south line of smoke detection at systems 16,17, and 18 are overspaced-see fire code review note #13, provide a building map at the releasing panel indicating floorplan layout and locations of all initiating devices-see plan review note #15, repairs underway at VESDA system 29.
