Description
The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of replacing the foam and nozzles, resloping the piping and flushing the piping. The foam will be changed to alcohol resistant type AFFF. The nozzles will be change to an air aspirating type nozzle even thought they are not required for AFFF. Since the nozzles will have a small 3.0 k-factor a new strainer will be provided. A new 1500-GPM @ 70-PSI fire pump is to be provided. The existing 600-gallon foam tank will be reused. A new 8" deluge system will be provided. Approximately 414 Gal of foam is required to achieve the required 10 min discharge duration.

There are two backflow preventers in the existing main on this project, have been reflected in the hydraulics.

Plan Mod Scope:
The fire pump header was revised to include a RPZ back flow preventer in front of the pump. Since there are (2) DCK back flow preventer before the pump this is satisfactory. A piece of 8" was changed to 3" to reduce the flow output from the fire pump to prevent cavitation.

The original system was apparently installed in 1993. The system was classified as H3. The foam system was required based upon a letter from Peter Mulvihill FPE (See letter attached to case file) The existing fire protection consist of protecting the 3 bays where the trucks are refueled. The fourth blending bay does not have fire protection. The existing system is a 6"x6"x2" gridded deluge system. The 8" feed main is ran overhead in a pipe rack.

There is no associated building permit.

Me, Mark Sentenno and Tim Frost met with Jeff Pacham with Treasure Valley Fire and two representatives of Chevron, Lloyd and Steve and discussed outstanding issues from the last inspection. The tamper switches will be replace with devices that comply with NFPA 72, the pump and related electrical wiring needs to be above the water line (doors are ok for drainage). Tim is researching the required ventilation. The other items will be owner or fire sprinkler contractor supplied.
