This quick permit is to monitor a new kitchen hood suppression system with an existing fire alarm panel. Any other modifications to the fire alarm system shall require a plan modification. The new hood connection is being added to an existing zone that has alarm initiating devices already on it. To comply with NFPA 72 and IFC requirements for the hood suppression system alarm signal to report/annunciate separately, the contractor is using a previously approved (for this project/building only) method (please see one-line diagrams). This is approved only with the understanding that the monitoring service must be notified of the hood suppression system activation regardless of the condition of that zone (i.e. if the zone is shorted out or otherwise incapacitated, the suppression system activation must still report an alarm condition to the monitoring station.
